Why to Choose a Clear Lens

Outside of work, I’ve spent the better part of the last two decades obsessed with endurance sports. From running D1 cross country and track back in the day to racing as an elite amateur for Chalet Colorado, I put our gear through it all on a daily basis.

I remember before I even joined the team at Optic Nerve, they dropped the FixieMAX. It was our first premium shield frame, and honestly, it set the standard for how versatile our lineup is today. Swappable lenses, a customizable fit, and—let's be real—they just looked badass.

Fast forward to now, and you’ll find interchangeable clear lenses right out of the box with the FixieAIR, FixieSLICE, FixieRUSH, and FixiePHENOM 2.0. The FixieMAX has an interchangeable clear lens that can be purchased separately.

Clear lenses might sound niche, but they’re way more useful than most people realize. Whether you’re chasing the sunset after work and heading home in the dark, or pulling a pre-dawn mission to your favorite fishing spot, your eyes still need coverage. They shield you from wind, trail debris, and roost when the sun isn't out—and with 100% UVA/UVB protection, they’ve got you covered no matter the light. (We definitely still recommend a dark tint once the sun hits full beam, but the protection is always there.)

I throw a clear lens in on rainy days, and they're my go-to when race day calls for a twilight crit. These aren't just extra add-ons in a box; they're part of the DNA of the brand. We built them on the same functional mountain heritage Optic Nerve was founded on, tuned specifically for real-world athletes.

Whether you’re on the water, trails, pavement, or anywhere in between—a clear lens could be the one thing missing from your kit.
