What are special purpose sunglasses?

Special purpose sunglasses are designed to excel in a specific environment by using carefully selected lens and mirror combinations. This is achieved by pairing a specific lens color with a precise mirror coating. This combination enhances certain colors and performs better in specific lighting conditions, giving you a distinct visual advantage.

While these lenses are highly effective, they are different from HD Color-Tuned lenses, which are a specific type of special purpose lens where the lens material itself has been adjusted to filter out precise wavelengths of light.

What are High-Definition Color-Tuned Lenses?

Our high-definition color-tuned lenses are a precision tool engineered to give you a visual advantage on the water. Our HD color-tuning lens technology isolates and enhances specific colors that matter most to an angler--like the greens of a submerged weed line or the subtle browns of a fish against a rocky bottom. By managing the light spectrum, we filter out the visual noise that causes haze and fatigue, dramatically increasing contrast and clarity.

What is the difference between the High-Definition Color Tuning and Special Purpose lenses?

Amber / Blue - Open Ocean

The Polarized HD Color-Tuned blue lens is an amber lens with a blue mirror. Optimized for a crisp blue light filter and high-definition color enhancement. It is best for ocean fishing, salt water, and bright light conditions.

Amber / Green - Lake & Stream

The Polarized HD Color-Tuned green lens is an amber lens with a green mirror. Designed to provide superior blue light filtering for ultimate contrast and clarity in mixed conditions. It is best for stream and lake fishing, fresh water, and dynamic light conditions.

Yellow / Blue Flash - High Contrast

The Polarized Special Purpose lens is a yellow lens with a blue flash mirror. It features high contrast for enhanced vision in low light conditions. It is best for any fishing environment, salt and fresh water, but optimized for low-light/low-glare conditions.

Hydrophobic Coating: Resists Water

This treatment creates a surface that water cannot cling to, including salt water. It works by forcing moisture—from rain, sweat, or mist—to form tight, round beads. These droplets then roll cleanly off the lens without leaving behind the streaks or water spots that can distort your vision. Saltwater will not corrode the mirror with proper care over time.

Oleophobic Coating: Repels Oil

This coating creates a powerful, oil-resistant barrier. It prevents the oils found in fingerprints, sunscreen, and lotions from adhering to the lens. This makes the surface incredibly easy to clean, as smudges can be wiped away completely without smearing or leaving behind a hazy residue.
