I had the incredible opportunity to wear the Optic Nerve Kingfish polarized sunglasses, during my 8-day Lemosho trek up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in August 2025. These sunglasses were more than just gear; they were a vital companion at altitudes reaching 5 895 meters, where UV exposure is no joke.

Performance Highlights:
• Perfect Fit: The Kingfish model hugged my face comfortably without slipping, even during long, sweaty ascents.
• UV Protection: My eyes felt completely shielded from the intense sun and high-altitude glare. The polarization was a game-changer for visibility and eye comfort.

• Durability: These shades held up impressively against extreme weather—wind, dust, and sudden temperature drops. Built for the outdoors, no doubt.

Minor Challenges:
• Lens Fogging: When I wore my buff over my nose and mouth, fog tended to collect on the lenses. I hadn’t packed anti-fog spray, which would’ve helped—lesson learned!

• Tinted Window Effect: I noticed faint stripes in the corners of my vision when looking through tinted windows. Not sure of the cause, but it didn’t affect performance on the trail.

Final Verdict:
Despite a couple of quirks, the Kingfish sunglasses delivered where it mattered most—protection, comfort, and resilience. If you're heading into high-altitude or rugged terrain, I highly recommend them. Optic Nerve nailed it with this one.

I used them for the first two days of my Kilimanjaro trek, moving through the dense forests and then out into the open moorland. That's where the flip-up lens truly shone. I have been a beach bum for 60+ years. I bought a pair of your Old Salt model sunglasses a few years ago and love them. I recently let my wife try them on at the beach one day and she could not believe how great they where! She did not want to give them back! So I bought 2 pairs of these very similar Saugton model sunglasses for both of us. Both of us feel these may be the best sunglasses we have ever owned at any price!

I had been searching for the perfect sunglasses for motorcycling. They had to be tough, lightweight, and fit snug to my face to keep out wind, dirt, and road debris. Found my first pair of Fourteeners in a random shop, what feels like decades ago. No other pair have been up to the challenge before or since. These are my one and only sunglasses! One note of caution... After the sun goes down and you slide them to the top of your dome for storage, they will eventually fall off the back of your head and break.

These shades are amazing. The clarity is perfect. My favorite bit of tech on them is the adjustable nose piece. I have a flatter nose so being able to adjust the position to a set location is perfect. Highly recommend them.

The FixiePhenom fit securely and comfortably and they are one of the few biking glasses that have a narrow enough ear piece to easily fit my Take-A-Look clamp on mirror. I love the photochromic lenses so I don't have to think about swapping lenses.
