WHY USE A PHOTOCHROMIC LENS?
Never get caught in the dark. Our photochromic lenses are engineered with advanced UV-sensitive molecules that live inside the lens—not just on the surface.
These molecules act like millions of tiny shutters, automatically darkening when the sun is out and clearing up as the clouds roll in or the sun sets.
Whether you’re moving from an open field into deep timber or riding from dawn into midday, Optic Nerve photochromic tech ensures you always have the perfect tint without ever touching your frames.
FEATURES + BENEFITS:
Constant UV Protection - Regardless of the tint level, the lenses maintain 100% UVA/B protection.
Reduced Eye Fatigue - By automatically adjusting to shifting light, the lenses minimize the need for your eyes to constantly adjust, reducing eye strain.
Full Range Coverage - Eliminates the necessity of carrying multiple lens sets or stopping to swap eyewear during fluctuating weather or terrain changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do Photochromic lenses work?
Photochromic lenses are made up of trillions of organic molecules that rapidly change in structure in the presence of UV light.
In bright sunlight, the molecules expand in size, darkening the lenses, while in low light conditions, the molecules shrink, allowing more light to filter through.
In colder environments, the lens may transition to dark faster, while in hotter environments, the lens may transition to clear faster.
What is VLT?
VLT, visible light transmission, is the amount of visible light that gets through the sunglasses.
90% VLT blocks 10% of visible light. Good for low-light environments.
16% VLT blocks 84% of visible light. Good for bright environments.
All of our sunglasses provide 100% UVA/UVB protection.
Do photochromic lenses work in the car?
In short, no.
Most modern cars have windshields that already block UV light. Because the photochromic lenses react to UV light to darken, they will not darken inside a car whose windshields already filter out UV light.
How long does the photochromic effect last?
The photochromic lens will transition effectively for at least 2 years.
How do I take care of Photochromic Lenses?
To prolong the life of your lenses, rinse with fresh water, wash with a very mild soap if needed, and dry only with a microfiber cloth or cleaning case.
Avoid paper towels, or abrasive fabrics. Be mindful of extreme temperatures to keep the photochromic treatment effective.
